My Thoughts On Terry Childs
First, who is Terry Childs? He is the network administrator that works for the city of San Francisco that created his own “god” password and locked out the other administrators. Here are a couple articles about him: SFGate, The Register and CBSNews.
I totally agree with the idea of trying to get the password from him. However, I think that bail set at $5 million is a little much. Suspected murderers are often slapped with $1 million bail. IF he is convicted he could get 7 years in a state prison.
Anyway, he definitely deserves to loose his job. Unfortunately for him, he will never be hired again for an IT job.
One more thing… They better fire his supervisors at least two levels up. Why? Because they are the ones that allowed a multi-million dollar network to be hijacked by one lone admin. There should always be multiple people managing sensitive systems.
